Venugopal, the traitor, has surrendered his weapon and given himself up. A surrender ceremony was organized by the reactionary Indian state. Defying the leadership of the CPI (Maoist), Venugopal — known to the public as “Sonu” — had called for others to surrender, urging Party members and cadres to join the process by October 15. Out of the CPI (Maoist)’s thousands of militants and tens of thousands of supporters, only 60 individuals took part in this process and laid down their weapons. Apart from Venugopal, no central-level official was among those who surrendered.
At the ceremony held in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, Venugopal and 60 others laid down their arms and accepted plaques presented by the reactionary Indian state. In an earlier statement, the Central Committee of the CPI (Maoist) emphasized that traitors should hand over Party weapons to the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army, and that if they wish to surrender, they must do so unarmed. Despite this, the traitors seized Party property and handed their weapons over to the state.
