A gathering will be held in front of the Consulate of India in Istanbul to call for an end to the massacre carried out against Adivasis and Maoists under the so-called “Kagar Operation” in India.
The action, called by Alınteri, Devrimci Hareket, Ezilenlerin Sosyalist Partisi (ESP), Kaldıraç, Komün, Mücadele Birliği, Partizan, Sosyalist Meclisler Federasyonu (SMF), and Sosyalist Mücadele İnisiyatifi (SMİ), will raise the demand: “Stop the Kagar Operation in India, End the Massacre.”
In India, Adivasis (Indigenous peoples), whose lands have been handed over to imperialist corporations, are confronted with massacres, mass arrests, and forced displacement. For centuries, Adivasis have relied on the land for their livelihood and identity; their entire mode of life is interwoven with nature. The Kagar Operation, designed to seize Indigenous lands and open the way for the plunder of lucrative mineral resources by overriding the rights of the local people, seeks to “cleanse” the region of Maoists in order to achieve this objective. Adivasis who are displaced are subjected to mass detentions, attempts at forced collaboration, the burning of their homes, and sexual violence against their women and children. Those murdered are dressed in guerrilla uniforms in an effort to legitimize the killings. The Indian state, meanwhile, seeks to eliminate Maoists through fabricated clashes and arrests, aiming to leave the Adivasis without leadership. Despite this, Adivasis and Maoists continue to resist imperialism and the reactionary, collaborationist Indian state.
Growing outrage against this tyranny and brutality in India is being voiced across many parts of the world. Revolutionary organizations in Turkey are also coming together to protest the Kagar Operation and to demand an immediate end to the massacre. They will gather on Saturday, 13 December, at 15:00, in front of the Consulate of India in Istanbul.
All revolutionary, democratic, and progressive forces are called upon to protest this massacre.
